“We embarked on a complicated remodel of our home on a cliff in South Laguna in 1999.  After much research, the contractor we chose to collaborate with was Tad Kirsten.   

This remodel involved caissons in the cliff, excavation to create a lower third floor, structural steel work, and other intricate architectural detailing.  Because a remodel is full of surprises, Tad was able to problem solve and find innovative solutions to extremely difficult construction challenges. 

In addition, our project required pristine carpentry, custom metal work, dangerous heights to work with, negotiations and supervision of subcontractors to make sure everyone was on the same page.  Tad was also able to collaborate with our architect and understood the end game of our design goals.    

Equally important, Tad continues to be available to help us repair things that have worn out due to our extreme exposure to the ocean air.  We can count on him to be the ultimate problem solver.   

Tad enjoyed the challenge of this custom project and he took pride and pleasure in the building process.  He helped us create a unique home that our family has enjoyed ever since. Our kids have emphatically stated to us “never sell the house!”

We contracted Tadd from TDK Construction to turn our lengthy kitchen remodel wish list into a reality. I knew we made the right choice from day one. I anticipated a chaotic messy demolition. Instead I came home to find zero piles of debris and a cleaned up demo area. He has a systematic, methodical and efficient process that ensured we had power, water, a functioning sink, stove and refrigerator for as much time as possible. Along with an impressive and extensive skillset, he is patient, flexible, and resourceful. Tadd addressed any questions, doubt and fear with calm reassuring solutions. It’s the little things that puts him above the rest. To help me narrow down choices and make final design decisions, he took the time to hold up different light fixtures, he painted stain swatches on scrap pieces of wood, he even gave an introductory lesson to my kids on how kitchen cabinets are assembled. We now have a beautiful, bright, open airy kitchen. We no longer have any reason to complain about cooking, cleaning or the lack of space. He has earned our trust and will be calling on him for future projects big or small.
